Fall Adventure Engagement in Linville Gorge Wilderness Area

Tara and Sara wanted a fun, adventurous engagement session at The Chimneys - one of my all-time favorite spots to photograph.

The Chimneys is a stunning example of the tremendous beauty and variety of landscape found in the region. For spectacular (and unrivaled views) look no further! The session started around golden hour and lasted into dusk, which gave them perfect light for portraits, candids, details, and landscapes images. They packed a picnic of charcuterie and beverages - which was great to have as the sun set and everyone got hungry.

The couple was in the beginning stages of planning their wedding for the following year, and they wanted a location that represented their deep love of nature, travel, and adventure. They spend a good amount of time in Vermont (Sarah is from there), so they brought a few cans of the iconic New England Hazy IPA, Heady Topper (by The Alchemist Brewing). I had actually traveled to Burlington and had be recommended this beer by some friends. Heady Topper isn’t sold outside of Vermont, so when they showed up with it for session - I was stoked!

Wandering around the Chimneys has to be one of my favorite things to do with couples. There are just endless photographic backdrops and ideas to explore. It seems like every time I’m there, new shot ideas pop in my head. The challenge of shooting it differently each time, for each couple, across the seasons, is something that continually excites me. Below is are a few more shots from the session. Enjoy!
