Your Adventurous Wedding & Elopement Photographer

Heartfelt photos for lovers of fresh air and natural beauty.

What’s an ‘adventure’ wedding or elopement?

It’s choosing a breathtaking, unconventional location for your wedding - one that seeks the beauty of nature over traditional venues. It flips the script on what a wedding day could or should look like. Put bluntly - it’s a bad ass way of getting married.

My name is Andy Wickstrom and I’m here to help you find the best locations no matter where you decide to tie the knot: North Carolina, Colorado, Utah, Norway, Iceland, or someplace else. I’m ready to help you craft the most chill, beautiful, and fun wedding day you can imagine - and be there to document those moments.

[Andy’s] attention to detail is what makes the experience amazing. He learns what it is you want and how best to express your adventure in photos.

He will go above and beyond—including hanging off cliffs, to get the right photo. His amazing energy and calming nature makes your big day that much easier.

Meet your photographer.

Hi, I’m Andy Wickstrom. I’m a dad, a life-long climber and former RV nomad. I live with my family in Asheville, North Carolina.

The first adventure elopement I photographed happened back in 2015 when a friend and fellow climber wanted me to document their elopement on a glacier in Squamish, BC. After that, I was encouraged and inspired by the work of pioneering adventure elopement photographers, and close friends, Brandon and Gabi Fox of the Foxes Photography.

Ever since that experience back in 2015, I’ve been building a small business focused on working with couples who want to have a wedding experience that sheds tradition and spotlights what the couple truly wants on their day.

I like to document everything from intimate mountain elopements to modern outdoor micro-weddings, and I try to capture the emotions and real moments that tell your unconventional love story.

How Does Eloping with Me Work?

  1. First, fill out my contact form. I’ll reach out to set up a call where we’ll meet each other, discuss your wedding vision, and answer questions. This is the first step in the process.

  2. Next, if you decide to proceed, I’ll share my custom location recommendations and provide my local preferred vendor list. Over the next few weeks and months, I’ll research the details to create the timeline for your perfect wedding day in the mountains.

  3. When your wedding day finally arrives, all the planning we’ve done will make everything effortless and smooth. I show up stoked and ready to capture all the details of your day up until we high-five and hug at the end.

Let’s craft the wedding experience you actually want.

No matter what you’ve got in mind for your wedding, I’m here to help you plan and document it.

Just fill out my contact form here with some basic information. It helps me to know a little about you and your partner—what you’re into, and maybe a rough idea of your wedding vision. I’ll reach back out as soon as possible with a plan to connect and begin formulating the best day possible for you!

We would highly recommend MountainWed to anyone looking for a wedding day experience of a lifetime. He was a lot of fun to hike the Hawkbill trail with and made it enjoyable capturing unique moments along the way. I would not hesitate to use Andy for any occasion, his professionalism and dedicating to getting the best photos possible is the best of the best.

The Adventure Begins Here!

The first step in planning your adventurous wedding is to simply reach out. I want to hear your wedding vision or session ideas, and discuss how we make it happen.

We’ll probably also end up talking about things to do around Asheville; where to grab a good beer or fresh donut when you visit; what my favorite vegan-friendly breakfast spot is or where the hot new-wave coffee bar is. Are you ready to begin?
